Lost a helm for Lesucre today. I was running a heroic with Ina, rolling as a tank on Lesucre (Warrior) doing the Well of Eternity. Everything was okay, the dps wasn't great but do-able. On the last boss, my helm dropped. i still have a 353 item that I got from running the Zul's but this was 378, much better.

it was Annihilan helm which was a very nice 378 item. However, a dps pally decides to 'need' on the item with a other warrior dps. man, they come in as dps and take the item i need? He is noticed as "DIPNSPIT FROM NATHREZIM SERVER" sweet eh?

[00:40:09] Need Roll - 35 for [Annihilan Helm] by Lesucre

[00:40:09] Need Roll - 4 for [Annihilan Helm] by Hazakura

[00:40:09] Need Roll - 76 for [Annihilan Helm] by Coughsyrup

[00:40:09] Need Roll - 87 for [Annihilan Helm] by Dipnspit

[00:40:09] Dipnspit won: [Annihilan Helm]

[00:40:09] Dipnspit receives loot: [Annihilan Helm].

If you look at the conversation table, Me Lesucre and In Hazakura needs on the tanking helm so I get a better chance to get it. but you see the other two take the need roll too.

I think it's not right for people to do that and feel 'okay' about it. Cheating your way through game is no different from cheating your life. I believe when you are left alone, in a 'raw' type of identity, it's more or so to show the actions that you think it's 'right' to do. This behavior shouldn't be encouraged or looked at lightly in any sense. Anyone can say, "it's not a big deal, just a item." yes it is, but it's what the item represents. Whatever it is, how small it is, this is where the cheating starts. I hope i'll get to play a more "safer" WoW someday...well really someday.

I'm off to NCTE this year again! The Annual convention is at Chicago!! Excited!
I'll presenting on "understanding digital cross-cultural differences and possibilities in culture education. My point in this paper will be about understanding the student's cultural back ground in language teaching.

According to some scholars, Asians/Koreans seem to be passive in classrooms. I say F that! by observing in WoW (World of Warcraft) there has been too many patterns showing Koreans NOT being passive at all.
I'll be talking about this on Friday at Chicago!

hope some ppl will actually like it XD

I'm ready!! see? Jason Lee!!

Just a thought,

What makes who we are?

I'll be going to Korea to get a chemo done, and maybe i'll be in a hospital for quite a while.
I don't know how long i'll be in the hospital but guessing around 10 days. I'll be arriving at Korea on the 30th of December, and getting the chemo done on the 11th of Jan.

Well this gave me a thought, no World of Warcraft? what will i do? READ???
Anyway i could hit one of those "game bangs (피시방)" and install my game there.

Well it's different. Very different. I don't have my addons, my customizations will be different, my macros will be different; will it be the same World of Warcraft? I say NO.

The virtual game isn't just about me slaying mobs, it's about HOW I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME.
it's more about my virtual image sort of projected on the screen. I want my game to look in THIS way.

Some could argue: "What's the bid deal? It's just a game!"
Yes, and No. It's not only a game, it's my ideal environment of playing. It's more about what makes me play WoW, and what keeps me to look at the screen. however, of course i could play, i could still enjoy the new content of Cataclysm. However it's not the same.

Now this gave me a thought.
We, as humans, like to make ourselves special, make us different from others. Try to be bettter, maybe more successful than others.

For example, let's take graduate students writing. How do you write?
do you just WRITE? Anywhere? Any time? with anything?

If i throw you a pen, a notebook and desk maybe, will you be able to write?
I'm thinking maybe but pretty much NO.

When we write, some people like to go to the coffee shop, some people listen to different music, do some cleaning first before writing, or a corner in the house that motivates them to write.

People seem to customize their writing place.

Think about highschool, how you liked to organize stuff.
Maybe the organization could start from getting ideas from someone else, but in the long run, everyone has their own way to organize stuff.

Why then?
I think it's because people want to be different, people want to be distingquished from one anther.

We could say, some speices of dogs do this, and some cats do that.
But when we say Koreans do this, Americans do that, oh you did this so you must be Italian.
pfffft. yea, that could lead to so many arguements.

It's okay to catagorize animals but very delicate to do it with humans.
To think of it, it makes us different, in other words, we like to be different.

We are humans what's so different about humans? We customize, we act differently. we separate ourselves from others.

if you think about it, we try so hard everyday to be different from others.

So, I say, playing WoW on a different computer is not actually playing wow. lol

hmm maybe there could be more to talk about this, but I'm gonna stop here.
I wanted to document this thoght before it goes away from my head.

feel free to add or retract from what I said.

hey it's blog... right? I don't need reference!

Okay so today I was playing my mage. wanted to try out my luck on pugs again.
so far my luck has been really bad, where i've been meeting all these bad pugs.
I understand if you dont' know the fight, or you could produce low dps if you don't know what you are doing.
it's a noob stage that you go through anyways.

however usually when i say BAD pugs, i mean;

people who will pull aggro and can't handle it.
people who think 2 tanks is way better than 1 in heorics....
people who says "we need more dps!!" and he's producing like 800 in hoerics!!
people who sware all the time, have the f word typing all the time.
people who say they heal and dpsing.....(everyone starts to die...)
people who don't have half of their gear on...
people who rather chit chat then kill the boss...i mean during the fight...
people who will leave after one wipe.
tanks or heals who leaves during the fight.

But yes i'm dps so I have to endure stuff. I say to myself, I'll handle this some way some how...
So, i tried to play my mage again, got bored of other toons. I feel like pew pewing tonight!

I logged and pressed random dungeons. ah...UtK... very easy simple and quick and smooth.
and i got 3 pallys from the same guild and same server. KORIALSTRASZ!!

so we start killing some mobs, killing some more then green drops.
I just pressed to DE as usual... and all three pallies starts to need on everything. I've got pugged into 3 ninjas...
their explaination is "I'm a enchanter and I need the mats..."

That's such not a good explaination to need.
well so i can go by without needing any mats, i don't really mind. I have enough mats anyways...

then the tank starts to pull all the mobs in the hall where you have drakes and other mobs.... and wipes us all up.
it's not like he has 50K to keep up with it, he has like 30k. But yes, they started to blame it on me, the pew pew guy...

"you are not making enough dps, thats why we died"
"you did AOE so he couldn't keep aggro that's why we died"

the warlock who was with me left teh group whispering you should do the same.
but again i'm dps so i'll try to endure stuff...

and again, green drops and they are needing everything.
then says..

"if you don't like it leave, we don't need dps, there's plenty out there anyways."

I mean do i really need to hold it in after hearing that?
does this mean if you are tank/heals you can bully around everyone else?

I couldn't stand it anymore and wanted to leave... really pissed me off.
can't stand it anymore.
I have my own tank, my own healer and still would run with respectful attitude toward other players.
I guess i'm really sick and tired of these mindless stupid players.
the more bad pugs i meet, the more I start to hate those people.

so what do you think?

nothing really special because I'm wearing a good pare of shoulders which boosts up my exps.

and yes I've made it up to lvl 20 too! Also did the void walker quests so i'm ready to role!

Hi everyone! Hanbi here, I just wanted to say I've been searching on the internet for just random crap,  and then one day I came across this Korean Warlock Player 'drake dog'. I've heard he's an ass and really a douche bag but also a legendary pvp warlock player.

check out this site.

His story is well know, but it's in Korean if you know any check it out.

So he's an ass but also an awesome player and gave me a thought i should be playing as a warlock (since I've always thought it's the most motivated class for me) and this time i'll do what drakedog does and see how it goes.

So yes, i've made a Undead warlock which i never said i would.

Making him and summoning Imp.

first dungeon rum with ina who's actually running me through

and pumping up HS. thought it was cool.

So I'll keep track of what's been happening to me and my worlock 'loveis' and see how the story goes. :)

hope I'll be motivated through out this toon!

Using World of Warcraft and Other MMORPGs to Foster a Targeted, Social, and Cooperative Approach Toward Language Learning | Academic Commons
  • At the moment, it is by far the most popular MMORPG and has a truly international scope with dedicated servers in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
  • It allows for localization of the game into different languages.
  • The structure of the game is similar to most MMORPGs.
The social environment of Language-learning 이라는 것이다. Eng Ver. This is Bryants article about using WOW for language learning tool. I strongly agree with B with some side of his argument. if you check the link, it'll be noticeable, that the student is improving her verb use through chats and quest in the game. The gaming actually gives her the motive and the goal to actually improve or develop her language skills.

These are the reasons that WOW was used rather than other online games. I do relize that wow is a good material to use in classrooms. However My point is that in classrooms the teacher-student relationship is so strongly binded that the teachers are to eager to teach and the student is eager to learn. The society, so called the 'real-world' is not constructed in this way. A more social place with interactions based on negotiation and purpose. The motive and the goal would diverse through students which is thought as to be a singular in classrooms. I believe we can achieve a high point range of language ability such as: grammar, structures and vocabulary in classrooms but without the social students will not easily face against the real world. The social factor is a crucial point where vygotsky and Leont'ev has emphasized on their work. Humans are social and only through social they can develop. (1978).

Turkle article and Wenger's article has similar aspects when coming to community.
Online gaming environments are the best community place for socializing.
Online game envrionments links people around the world, people with different culture backgrounds, different aspect of life point of view. A online place is where people gather up for similar interests, collaborate with one another.

For example, I'd like to introduce the game of World of Warcraft (WOW). This is a online game MMORPG style where over 50 million people around the world playes and serviced in 15 languages. People not only stay on the game sever to fight and complete quests to level up, the gaming environment also pushes the users to collaborate and conquer dungeons and others. In this situation people have to talk and work with each other to make the best out of it.

No man is an island, sort of suites this situation. In the game, people have to learn to talk and learn to work together. As a heavy online gamer myself, everytime I log-on, friends (online friends) people I know through game starts to talk with about my life and my interests, not only restricted with gaming issues.

When someone builds up a guild, people tend to get closer, and work better together. Sometimes people get together to meet up in real life, which is more fun sometimes.

However, my point here is that communities help to develop all sorts of aspects. My interest is in language, and language development could be observed in playing online gaming. Bryant article shows that actually playing WOW, develops the language ability for users.

As Wenger notes, learning comes from all around not only from community but from practice, identity and meaning. People gather up in the online game to collaborate and through this development occurs.

However, i know this posting goes blah blah blah for here and there but, too bad, my prior posting went down the gutter with an error of the psu blog!
