Determination

My life is hitting a point where I need to get myself together and pull it through. I'm in my mid 30's and need to bring bread on the table. Although My lovely wife is pursuing her Ph.D, it's not going to be enough. To give Irma and her future sibling's best education and life, I need to start being a real Dad. 

So this is going to be one of my new years resolution for 2012. From now on, as much time I will have, I'll be posting my time line on everyday activity on my twitter. Hash tag will be #Jleelife and you guys are more than welcome to help me get through my life, or not. lol

This way will help me understand how much time I will be wasting on daily, weekly basis and what I can improve to manage time better.  It also will give me motivation, hopefully intrinsic!!, and make me more focus on my task everyday. 

So I'll keep you guys posted and see how things will go!

the road to victory

I like baseball, no let me re-say that, I LOVE baseball. I also love playing games as a head coach. That's why I like Football manager series, and OOTP.

for my iPhone I was lucky enough to find a coach simulation sports game--iOOTP 2011. yes, i've already won the world series like 3 times in a row, became the dominant force in MLB.

But what I really wanted to do was make a 'running' 'stealing' small ball team.

And... I did...



so look? of course I did this after the 40 man roster expansion, but 7 hits and 7 runs!!!



and look at the SBs!!!(Stolen bases)

my team was running, bunting, an that's how I won. I really would like to try out a small market, with players who have good eye and speed. it might get really tough and challenging, but so fun to win!!

Lego 8402 sports car

딸과 오랜만에 놀기위해 레고 창고에서 하나 꺼내서 만들기로 했슴...

그런데 생각보다 딸의 손이 작더라 ㅠㅠ



after finishing making the Lego, Irma seemed to enjoy it anyways :)

I need to get some stuff done on the blog, didn't update my recent presentation at LRA or recent Irma's language change. 
Currently I'm rushing toward the end of my program and hoping that I'll be done soon.

However, i'll keep the stuff coming, for mostly me (lol) and some for you!

Lost a helm for Lesucre

Lost a helm for Lesucre today. I was running a heroic with Ina, rolling as a tank on Lesucre (Warrior) doing the Well of Eternity. Everything was okay, the dps wasn't great but do-able. On the last boss, my helm dropped. i still have a 353 item that I got from running the Zul's but this was 378, much better. 



it was Annihilan helm which was a very nice 378 item. However, a dps pally decides to 'need' on the item with a other warrior dps. man, they come in as dps and take the item i need? He is noticed as "DIPNSPIT FROM NATHREZIM SERVER" sweet eh?

If you look at the conversation table, Me Lesucre and In Hazakura needs on the tanking helm so I get a better chance to get it. but you see the other two take the need roll too. 

 

I think it's not right for people to do that and feel 'okay' about it. Cheating your way through game is no different from cheating your life. I believe when you are left alone, in a 'raw' type of identity, it's more or so to show the actions that you think it's 'right' to do. This behavior shouldn't be encouraged or looked at lightly in any sense. Anyone can say, "it's not a big deal, just a item." yes it is, but it's what the item represents. Whatever it is, how small it is, this is where the cheating starts. I hope i'll get to play a more "safer" WoW someday...well really someday.

2012 NCTE at Chicago

So i'm back to my ordinary life, back from Chicago, the windy city and from the great NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English). It was a very short 2 day trip, basically get in and then get out version. 

My flight was from State College to Philly and then to Chicago. Why can't State College make a non-stop flight to Chicago?


The Chicago airport was beautiful, didn't have too much time to take pictures of the airport cause the transaction time was less than an hour. 

 

 

When I got to my hotel, found out that the 'actual' conference wasn't at the hotel that I was staying, but it was about a 15 min walk to a different hotel. The walk was very nice, and very windy at the same time.

 

이날 생각보다 많이 추웠다. -_-;; 역시 시카고라 바람이빠이 부는 그런 날씨였던 기억이..-ㅅ-

So when I got the conference center I got my booklet, met my colleagues and had some dinner and went back to my hotel, when over my presentation and went to bed. 

 

아쌀..=ㅅ= 나 발표한다고 이름이 제일 밑에 딱!

The hotel lobby was so nice, took a really quick vid, right before everyone was staring at me lol. 



The next day, got up early (my presentation was at 10:40am and was meeting everyone at 10:30. It's a 15 min walk and wanted to look good also :)

 

컨디션 만빵이였다..=ㅅ= 사실 좀 피곤하다고 느꼈지만 직접 표정을 보아하니 이건 뭐 발표준비는 제대로 끝난듯 ㅋㅋ

 

호텔내려가면서 찍은 사진, 저기 기둥은 우편을 넣으면 쓩하고 내려가서 우체통 역할을 하는거랜다...
미국에 10년넘게 잇었지만 저런거 모르니...이건 미국 시골총각의 병폐인가..ㅠ_ㅠ



가는길에 우연찮게 발견한 베니건스..ㅠ_ㅠ 우리동네에도 좀...

 On the way to the conference, the weather was really nice, the sun was out and so good to walk. 
Went passed the Roosevelt university and a park (would never remember the name lol) 


 
  And finally the panel, it was great, we were in a room that would hold around 200 ppl, and to be honest we got around 150 to come!!

The days of games being a minority in education seems to be fading away :)

Off to NCTE

I'm off to NCTE this year again! The Annual convention is at Chicago!! Excited!
I'll presenting on "understanding digital cross-cultural differences and possibilities in culture education. My point in this paper will be about understanding the student's cultural back ground in language teaching. 

According to some scholars, Asians/Koreans seem to be passive in classrooms. I say F that! by observing in WoW (World of Warcraft) there has been too many patterns showing Koreans NOT being passive at all.
I'll be talking about this on Friday at Chicago!

hope some ppl will actually like it XD

Changing blog's name and subject.

Thinking about changing the blog's name. 
it's name is actually "chat with me" because i wanted to talk about things around my life and things I do.
However I think it's time to upgrade this into something more professional/work related.

So, since I'm a person studying social language development with gaming, I want this to be my gaming blog with things related to education or just even gaming.


Education + Gaming has merged into Edutainment (education + Entertaining). However I go so against this value, it does not start as a gamer, and more of all can't find the "flow" effect in lots of edutainment games. One of the biggest problem is that educators do not look at using games as it is, rather more like to make one of their own. 

I do not like this and I don't want to be researching on edutainment too much. So i'll be using a different word. I want game to come first and game to be the priority in education. What we can take out of the game, what we can take home, what is learn-able through games.  So game should come first then education. 

Therefore this blog will be renamed and re-modified as


GAMUCATION BLOG

other old content will stay and free to look. but many will change soon.

WILL BE BACK SOON!

학교에서 wired 라는 별명 가질 정도로 기계와 개짓에 집착하는 나이지만 오늘 만큼은... 아날로그 식의 글을 씁니당 ㅎㅎㅎ 졸업해야지 ^^
